This is the 1st of four and is a great read. I read the whole series and loved them. Get them all! Alas, I mailed #3 yesterday. Check out others on my list
As a corrupt Commonwealth rules the galaxy through the might of its armies, its most influential general--a renegade Guardian of the deposed Starfire royal line--pursues the rumor of a hidden heir to the throne and searches for a woman he loves and is destined to destroy. Weis's solo outing demonstrates her talent for creating romantic villains and strong female protagonists.
A page turning modern take on grand space opera. I found it to be a quick read that held my interest. Oddly enough, it read as if it was Weis's own version of Star Wars and it certainly is recommended for fans of those movies and books.
While most well known for her collaborations - especially with Tracy Hickman - Margaret Weis has a number of excellent works on her own. This series, while sounding trite or over used with the lost heir to the throne fighting to regain his rightful place, is actually a wonderful story. I read the whole series twice a number of years ago and kept my copies of them with my favorites and still recommend them to friends.
