Glad we could entertain you :P    It is pretty funny, isn't it?  Maybe if you hang around here enough, you'll switch over to our way of readin!

No kidding.  Some of the book guessing threads are a hoot IMHO.  Truth:  don't we inspire you to start reading romance?

I always think of this forum as the comic relief.  Makes you wonder how many people just lurk & read here for a good laugh.:P

Aimee, I started reading some romance after lurking in this forum.  It's nice to mix up the genres a little.  I really like authors like Alice Hoffman and Anita Shreve, but not on constant rotation.

After I told my husband about the "precious load" and "Natures Joystick" thread, if I started reading romance he would probably ban me from the computer! I have so much on my TBR right now anyhow, but maybe someday=)

Well, see, the fact that you started reading here means you were curious, so you should just go ahead and take the plunge.  Release your inner addict.  You'll be in good company.:)  In all the years we'd been together (25yrs now), my husband had only seen me with maybe one or two romance novels in all that time.  When I got back into reading romances really heavy just a few years ago, he'd come into the room or home from work & see me reading and ask what it was.  Up until then we always shared books and read a lot of the same things.  At first, I'd just say a "chick book" and wave it at his face real quick, but didn't let him see it.:P  It kinda got to the point with keepers stored on my side of the headboard, or me spending my free time reading these things and taking them on vaction, he couldn't help but notice this was all I was reading.  I also have two teenaged sons, and all three of them tease me about my "love books" from time to time.  I tell them since I can never get 5 minutes alone in the bathroom, it's easier than letting Calgon take me away:P  They smirk at the pictures, of course.  Juveniles.

Kim -- that is classic.  The quick "Oh nothing" wave.  I've done it many times ;)

You should have seen his face when he saw the cover of James Pattersons, The Quickie!  I just shrugged and said sex sells!

I'm pretty open with my husband; I tell him things about the book I'm reading and funny bits from the message boards. I think part of the reason he tried JD Robb was he wanted to know more about what I was so interested in.

Openness, of course, ends with the Harlequin Presents. I demand that he pay no attention to them whatsoever!

I don't mind openess, but I refuse to be ridiculed for my tawdry taste in reading materials.:P  And he's a merciless tease.  I give him an opening and he's all over it.  Gotta keep those guys on a short leash...

I read these threads much more than I post and get quite a laugh.  I was just cracking up at the Tall Dark Cowboy thread.
