Early this year I read The Shadow of the Wind and up til this point, it's hands down the best I've ever read.  I love it so much, in fact, that I can't bring myslef to post it.  So can anyone recommend anything like it?  I also like The Thirteenth Tale and Harry Potter series, etc.

I can seem to get into anything lately and a great book is the only thing that gets me on the treadmill!

What genres to you particularly like? Have you read "The Kite Runner"? That one is really good. Do you like historical fiction? "The Other Boleyn Girl" is a fast and fun read. Do you like mysteries? Try the Inspector Brunetti series by Donna Leon or the Inspector Lynley/Barbara Havers series by Elizabeth George.

Try The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak - beautifully written - also The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, or Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.

If you enjoy "English" writers, GENTLEMEN AND PLAYERS by Joanne Harris, is one of the best mysteries that I have read recently.  The ending is unforgetable!

Have you read "Rebecca" by Daphne Du Maurier? It is a classic mystery and certainly one of the best of all time. For the genre, I place it in the top half of my top ten favorite mysteries of all time.
