I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are as engaging as in the first installment, and the plot takes some unexpected turns. The author weaves in backstory of the political wrangling & underlying issues surrounding the Civil War that is fascinating. Looking forward to reading the final book in the trilogy.

A wonderful civil war story. For those who like this era of American history this is a must read.
Part of my personal collection. John Jakes takes you into the heart of the civil war through his characters and passion. My favorite!!
