What can I read next? I am new to the paranormal books.

I am usually a mystery/horror (koontz/king) fan. After reading Twilight and New Moon I am eager to read other paranormal books.

I know Stephenie has Eclipse, Breaking Dawn and The Host out now. But here they are overpriced at the local bookstore so I have to wait for wal-mart to get them in (the WL for these books is too long here lol).

While I am waiting, what other books would you reccommend to a paranormal-newbie?

Thanks!

I like Erin McCarthy a lot. Her books (from what I've read so far) have humor & romance. Lynsay Sands is great too.

I actually found the other books in the Twilight series cheaper at Borders (30% discount) than at Wal-Mart.  My two teacher partners and I just finished the series this week - now we can finally talk about it...one of us was always one book ahead!

Well, if you're looking for series that don't have a big WL that might be hard....lol.  Most paranormal books are all WLd into the big #s.

Some that might have no or small WL's are ...  (and that's because they are popular and have been out for awhile, not because they're not good books!!!)

Kim Harrison's Hollow series

Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series

Keri Arthur's RIley Jensen series

Angela's ideas are good --  all three of those series are great, and the wl on them go really fast.   I love Patricia Briggs, but her WL are longer.  Mary Janice Davidson is another one whose wl go fast.  Her vamp books are very funny.

I just fell in love with Katie Macalister's Aisling Grey, Guardian series.  I've read the first book so far, and laughed my butt off, and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

The book doesn't even have to be non-WL. I'll go get it, read it and get it in the system ;) I really enjoyed the vamp & werewolf parts of Twilight and would love a series similar to it. I'll start checking out the authors you mentioned.

Any suggestions on which one to start with? :)

Thanks!

i highly recommend the House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, which begins with Marked.  it's also a young adult series, and i thought it was fantastic.  i just read all three books in three days, and can't wait for the next one to come out next month!  i thought i'd be posting them after i was done, but that was before i read them - and i'm keeping them.

For more adult stuff, I love Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Underworld series -- it starts with Bitten.  She just started a new YA series too, starting with The Summoning -- also good!

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris and the rest of that series is great.

Rachel Caine's Morganville vampires series is a fun YA not mentioned yet -- starts with Glass Houses.

Now, as to which ones to start with....well, Twilight is very romancey and somewhat YA.  How much romance/suspence/humor are you looking for, and are you in the mood for YA or adult?  We can get highly specific around here!  ;)

hmmm... I don't know lol YA is usually a faster read but I really do like "adult" books. I am not huge on love scenes or fooling around in bed stuff (usualyl stay away from the "romance" novels lol). Love humor but lust for suspence/action.

Basicaly I am board to tears lol and after reading Twilight and New Moon. I usually love my dog training books. They are all starting to run together now though lol and I am skimming rather than reading. This tells me I need to get back into some fun/light reading like Twilight & New Moon were.

Open to suggestions - How about:  Adult - Vamp or WW - Suspenceful - humorous moments

Thanks! You guys are great :)

I really loved Erin McCathy's 2 books called:

A Date with the Other Side

&

Heiress For Hire

They're a series set. They have everything you listed but Vamps or WW.

I would say go for Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series.  There are vamps and Werewolves and other types of shifters.  She is a telepath.  There's alot of suspense, but there is also some romance.  But it's tame in the sexual department compared to most paranormals.

One of my favorite series is Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld. You'll find everything here - weres, vamps, witches, necromances. If you like strong, sexy vamps - check out the Black Dagger Brotherhood series - they're my personal fave. If you like a strong female character, you might like the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton or the Dante Valentine series by Lillith Saintcrow. These are darker than the Twilight series - more gore & more sex. BTW - I've seen the Twilight series at Target pretty cheap, too.
