I was sent an ARC of Jayne Pupek's new novel, Tomato Girl.  I LOVED it!  It's told from the voice of an 11 year old girl (similar to Lovely Bones) and it details her internal and external struggles with living with a mother who has mental problems and a father who has a girlfriend (the tomato girl).  Somehow Pupek manages to show just how strong a human can be, while fragile at the same time.  I just loved this book!

After I read it I wrote a review and the author contacted me on LibraryThing and thanked me for my review.  She's a very nice lady!  She's currently looking for any questions or ideas for the reader's guide she's developing for the book.  I suspect this will be a reading club pick for many groups in the near future!

Thanks Gonna add it to my WL. I love Water for Elephants but can't stand the writer of the other book. I didn't read that one but I read the one about her rape and her english was horrible and there were so many typos and errors in the book that I couldn't get through it. I will surely check this one out though. Thanks :)

I really think you all will like it!

Tiffanie, I read both Lovely Bones and Lucky by Sebold and didn't see a bunch of typos or grammatical errors--and trust me, as a former English teacher, I would have noticed.  Maybe you got ahold of an uncorrected proof?

Thanks for the recommendation.  I added it to my WL.  And to the poster who said they couldn't get through "Lucky" so they didn't try "The Lovely Bones"....I say, give it a try.  I loved "Lovely Bones" but didn't care for "Lucky" or "The Almost Moon".
