So, I thought we were going to start a thread to chat about it?! =p Begin.

I liked the book a lot but I thought that she could have done so much better with Phury. It was like he was an aside in the book the whole time and not well-thought-out. I mean it was like he began at the end of the book. KWIM? The other stories were great though. I loved all the action with the "three boys" (especially that one part). =p

What about you?

Yep, the interaction between JM, Blay and Qhuinn kept me going through this one... Oh, and usual, Jane. I love the part when she tells Wrath she will work with him, not for him. :) Something that keeps tickling my brain is Qhuinn's vision when he gets to "the door"... Do you know that part? What do you think he saw that made him turn back? I think it was something to do with his friends getting hurt or killed because he wasn't there. Thoughts???

Yeah, I dunno. I don't know if it was that though or he prob wouldn't have wanted to leave so easily. It must have been something different. I was sooo freaked out that he was going to be Omega's son when he said he found him because he almost died. I was cussin, lol. I forgot that Lash might be a possability. Qhuinn was just starting to grow on me at that point.

Adrienne - what action with the 3 boys?  You have me intrigued.  And don't worry about spoiling me.  ANd do Xhex and Revhenge get it on?  Thanks.

I really liked the book, but I felt a little cheated as far as Phury's story went. I think he only played a small role in the story.

I thought we didn't see enough of the other brothers either. I loved the story between the 3 boys and I loved getting a glimpse inside Rhev's head.

Susan, there's no Rhev and Xhex getten it on. Sorry, but I will give you a hint to who she's supposed to hook up with if you want.

Kristy - I love hints! :)  And I'm actually happy it's not with Rev - that I thought was too predictable.  So Phury and Cormia fall in love off screen????  Not that I cared for them in the last book, but that seems kind of silly.

I have to agree that Phury seemed to be a side story in this one instead of the main invent. I did enjoy all the interaction with the 3 boys. What was that woman whos blackmailing Rhev? A spider ?! Seriously, I couldnt get that one...

I'm happy she finally brought Tor home, it should be interesting to see if he can pull himself out of that big black hole he's in. Nice to see Jane, but where were the others?! Not that I miss Marissa mind you, but still

I too want to know what Q saw on those doors ! Very intriguing

And I quite enjoyed that little peep show at the end of the book for the Insiders Guide coming out.

I think that with V's story we enter a new era of the BDB books: multiple story lines, where the main characters are just a piece of the puzzle. This book contained Phury and Cormia's story, but it weighed equally with JM/Qhuinn/Blay's, Rhev's, Lash's, etc. At first I was a little bugged by that, just as it bugged me when I read V's story... Now I have just accepted it as the norm. I'm re-reading it, and have found more that I like the second time around, like the interaction between Phury and Z. I was annoyed at first that Z couldn't be there more for Phury, but it makes sense if he still feels the way he explained... still trapped back "there" in his past... I like that there is no happy Hollywood ending, but more of the real-life work to be done to keep the relationships going. Now we've got new places for characters to crop up from: the community to the west, the Chosen who are on this side, the creepy Sympath colony (ugh! Could the spider princess be any more vile???)... And Fallen angels??? Anyone else super-curious about Lassiter's deal? What favor is he doing, and for who? I know you can read all about him on the BDB web boards, but I want to get to know him through the books.

Anyone else super-curious about Lassiter's deal?

Absolutely! That one came out of left field and had me wondering who he was doing some for, and what his ultimate motive is. Definately a character I would like to learn more about.

I was dissapointed with the weak story line concering Phury. I enjoyed all the other characters but his story seemed to be the one that was least important. Maybe Ward is trying to steer away from a typical romance, boy and girl meet, fall in love, strife ensues then the HEA and into a more mainstream fiction. Frankly I prefer the romance. I enjoyed her earlier novels with the focus on the two main characters much more. I do have to give her nods for the potrayl of Phury's addiction. Seemed very realistic (battling the inner demon within).

I loved this one!  I think they just keep getting better and better.  And given who both Phury and Cormia are, it made sense to me that there wasn't  a big "romance" but more that they fell in love gradually with each other's characters.

Still don't get the thing with Rhev.  I don't find him attractive at all.  And did Lassiter "heal" him or just heal what he was going through then?

Can't really see Xhex and you-know-who getting together but that's just me.  Seems like he needs someone kinder.

And the end, totally wrecked me .  I was weeping because it was so damned beautiful.  I just sent the book to my BFF but told her to copy the last few pages and send them to me (it'll take her awhile to read the book).

I think Lassiter only healed Rhev's life-threatening problem... I wouldn't seem right to take his Sympath side away, even if Lassiter could. Ani, why do you think Xhex is not kind? Did you catch the part about her not wanting to go to the clinic, because of what was done to her? I think her character is a reaction to some serious abuse, maybe even torture... like Z. In that case, maybe she isn't all warm and sweet, but I think she's kind. I think she goes beyond her job to protect Rhev and his employees because she truly cares about them. Trust will be a BIG obstacle for her and JM... if they do in fact get together. Another thought, one outta left field... So now that Nalla's born, we all want to know who she will grow up and fall in love with. What if it turns out to be the son of the other slave that Z rescued? Remember when Z was telling Phury about it and said the last he'd heard the male and his shellan were expecting their second young? Would that be a good tie-in?

Good questions, Lorian!  And maybe unkind isn't the right term for how I "see" Xhex.  I know she's devoted to Rhev and worries about the other employees.  She's not ... comforting?  To me, JM needs someone who is more comforting.  Who is more open with affection.  I don't see her being that way but I could totally change my mind later.

But she is growing on me.  A lot more in this latest book.  She's not as hard as I first thought she was.  And I think she really did care for Butch.

I didn't think Lassiter could "cure" Rhev's symphath-ism (is that a word, LOL?)).  But maybe make it so he wasn't as dependent on the dopamine.

Ohhh!  I do think that would be a wild and crazy tie in.

And since, at the end of Z's book, we saw him cuddling Nalla, I can't wait to read more in the Copendium which says he hadn't touched her yet.  How does he get from Copendium to where we saw him at the end of his book?

Oh, don't you ruin my Xhex and JM fantasy! I love them together. =p

The ending teaser kinda bugged me though. Shouldn't it be like Tohr's turn for a book? Why were we talking about Z again...not that I mind that much since his book was my fav so far.

Lorien - wow, you really thought about Nalla..I didn't even make that possible connection.

Anyone else hoping for some action between Blay and Qhuinn? He was totally diggin on that kiss and it was almost like he was becoming defensive of him. I don't know if it works with the vampire lore. Like, can they sustain each other through blood? Isn't it supposed to be male/female? I don't care she keeps teasing us with it like with V and Butch. Let us have some action! lol

Ani - what happened at the end of Z's book with Nalla? What is Copendium? I need to re-read them but my sister stole them! ha.

The Compedium is next book out, called The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide, due out in October: http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780451225009-The+Black+Dagger+Brotherhood+An+Insiders+Guide (Sorry, I don't know how to link) At the end of Z's book, he's done training the students in the gym and Bella comes in with baby Nalla, and she says "she wants her daddy" or something like that. Z drops everything and takes the baby then kisses Bella. So, he'll come around and it will be great between Z and his daughter, he just has to get out of his own stupid way first!!! Oh, the Blay/Qhuinn was a heart-wrencher! When Qhuinn gets all protective over him... Sniff. There is something between them, maybe even stronger than Butch and V, but Q will end up with a female. And no, same-sex vamps can't feed each other for sustenance. I read that somewhere on the BDB boards. Yeah, I need to get these brothers and their stories off my mind!!! :)

I get the feeling the compendium will be a lot like the BDB board.  Some short stories, deeper histories, maybe some more "interviews" etc.

Interesting that J.R. says Z has always been her favourite, too!  Maybe that's why his story shone so clearly.

Hey all.. yes.. I too am under the spell of the BDB!!! Z is my favorite so far!!!... Wasn't thrilled with Phury and Cormia's story... wasn't disapointed either..

Liked the way Phury finally stood up the the Virgin scribe and made some changes!!! His addiction was handled very very realistically.. yes yes those inner demons.... wow

Cormia, will get stronger as did Marissa.. maybe she will build a new women's center

Rhev's blackmailer... isnt she more like a scorpion?? hmmm have to re-read...

Loved the interaction with John Matthew, Blay and Quinn!!!!! WOW!!! don't want to give too much away. BUT WOW! had me glued to the book. and with Xhex!!!! double wow!!!!

ohhh and what about V's sister..... Hello mommie...... hello jerry springer....

Tohr' story... hmmm.. He needs some serious healing... glad to have him back...maybe Layla will be his second mate???

ALways love the banter between V and Butch.. not a whole lot in this book..

Where were all the women?? I mean there was the back and forth with Cormia and Bella. but Beth , and Marissa, Doc Jane  (I am missing someone?)...... i figured they would rally around the newbie... Jane is strong but a ghostly

figure.. still having trouble with that one....

nothing about Rhage (very little)... what is up with that...?

OH yeah the other slave who Z did save .. right I remember that.. yes having a son... hmm a new brother trainee or maybe little Nalla will catch Qhinn's eye (watch out Blay)? I cant see them pairing her up with Tohr...wrong wrong wrong...

I could keep going.. all and all still enjoy the series immensely!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooh, Layla and Tohr….good one.

No, no…Nalla is way too young for Qhuinn. If anyone besides Blay it can be with one of the “fallen” Chosen. ;)

I dont think that the age difference will be so bad if they paired her up with one of the three "boys" as oppose to the older brothers. They might bring in some new blood and a new set of warriors. Imagine your FIL  as Zhadist!! lol wow.!  Beth is Wraith's shellan, and what is a few hundred years between them?? I will have to go back to the BDB Boards and catch up!!~have a great day!

I seem to remember from the BDB boards that Tohr will not get a "new" shellan, that JRWard indicated his love is always and forever the same... Which means that somehow he and Wellsie reconnect. As we saw with Jane, anything is possible!

Does anyone know who the knew book (not the compendium) will feature? Will V's sister (what is her name) get her own book?

After the Guide, Rhev's book is next. I'm sure Payne will be in it, along with all the others. After Rhev's book is John Matthews' , so you know the tension between him and Xhex will pick up!
