I too pre-ordered it.  Meanwhile, on the message boards for the BDB, Ward states she originally envisioned the series to be 10 books (I heard/read 12 sometime last year).  Now she says as long people are interested and buying the books, she can see written them - no end in sight.  Yeeessssssss!!!!!

Amazon readers didn't give it a very good review.  I just went and got mine from Walmart.  Ipray pray pray I'm not disappointed.  Been waiting for John and Xhex.

I think most of the bad reviews on Amazon were for it not being released on kindle. Which, I gotta say, I think its rediculous to give a bad review for that. That just throws off the ratings that were given by customers who actually read the book. Most of the people who actually bought the book and read it gave pretty good reviews. Of course I just kinda skimmed through them cause I  didnt want to read any spoilers! lol. I preordered mine at the same time I ordered Dead In The Family so they will be shipped together next wk, so unfortunetely I will have to wait just a few more days. :-(

I just fininsed it, and it was AWESOME!!!!! John is one of my favorite charcters and I'm glad he got his turn. If you can't wait for it to come around on your WL you won't be dissapointed if you have to break down and buy it. TWO THUMBS UP!

I read it while on vacation in California.  Never has a 4+ hour plane ride gone so fast!  I loved John's story and that some other story lines were resolved and others started.  I think it is one of her best.  I hope she keeps writing, but that she knows when inspiration for this series has left and ends it gracefully.  I hate when a formerly favorite series is ground into dust because it is a moneymaker.  I don't blame the publisher os much.  They are money driven solely, but an artist should know when to walk away before she/he destroys her own creation.

I finished it and of course it was a great read.  However, I just could not get into Xhex all soft and femine sometimes.  I've read some reviewers who claim that Ward does not write women well.  I don't agree so much, but definately do with Xhex.  She just never jelled for me as a personality.  Of course, now that she's a ghost, neither does Doc. Jane.   She was so real for me throughout that entire book, until she came back as a ghost.  I hated that.   Looking forward to the next Fallen Angels book...Pauline

Just finished this last night.  Loved it!  I'm not much of a re-reader but this series I could start all over again.  If I didn't have such a huge TBR pile I would.  LOL  Pauline, I agree with you about Doc Jane.  I guess a ghost is no weirder than the whole Lesser thing but somehow she doesn't seem "real" anymore.

I really didn't like any after Butch.  I think all series get old after the first 3-4 books.  It's like the author can't get any really good story lines.   I know alot of people will not agree with me, but variety is what makes the world go round!

I really like this series and will probably continue to read. But this one wasn't a huge hit for me. Ward has gone soooo over the top with her lingo and slang that it no longer just sets the stage but starts to read like a parody.  Really, really corny and takes away from the plot.  John was never my favorite and - even after transition - I still think of him as a "kid". So it was kind of hard for me to get into him as the romantic lead.  But I do like Xhex's character.

The Lessor storyline was never that great and all the junk with Lash didn't help. Plus there were some serious plot holes.  On the bright side, we did see a bit more of Payne and I'm very interested in her.

The part that frustrated me the most was how little the previous core characters were involved, especially the women.  There was some - but considering they all live in the same house, it's amazing how they can be overlooked. Especially Beth.  She's John's sister and he's going through all kinds of emotional trauma and yet I don't think she even made a single appearance.

I read it and am glad to have done so just so I have the next link in the storyline. But I really wish I'd gotten more value for the price of a hardcover book. At least I had a good coupon, so I didn't pay full price!
