Not sure whether to thank you or not.

I saw this thread this morning and spontaneously stopped by Borders this afternoon to pick it up.  I didn't plan on going so didn't even have a coupon with me.  After all one book, save 10 or 15%; not really worth a second trip.

But buy ONE book? How exactly does someone manage that?  I picked out three. Then got to the counter to be told they were having a buy-4-get-1-free so I ought to shop so more. Made sense, so I came home with FIVE new novels. I think 4 are paranormal romance.

I'm not a huge TV buff, but this week does have a lot of interesting premiers.  That certainly cuts into reading time!  But I'll probably get to Lover Unbound  in the next few days.

I got it last night but I don't know when I can sit down with it because I am so busy this week. Hopefully I can read some at work tonight. ;) V is not my fav but I hope it is a good read. Z is my fav, yay for Lover Awakened! I need to read it again sometime.

P.S. Sorry about that Jo. =p What books did you get? I need some that are similar to these.

Okay, went to Borders tonight.  They said they aren't getting it until October 2!!!  Why would others have -- anyone have a clue?  I am TICKED!

I just finished it.  I think it's one of my favorites in this series, but there's so MUCH to absorb. This was a really different approach.  And you have to admit it was creative.  (Trying not do any spoilers here...yet.)  I'm not sure I'm crazy about the ending for Jane but it was definitely unique.  Hmmm, I'm going to have to think about this one.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through. It's okay so far. I must say I'm really rolling my eyes at all the slang the author uses. It's just really jarring to me...it doesn't flow. Anybody else feel that way?

Jennifer - in the beginning (a sermon about to begin??) - I did roll my eyes too, but I fell in love.  I could do without it, but it no longer gets in the way for me.  I'm so into her books that I've found myself using some of her slang - do you feel me?? ha!

I somewhat agree about the slang. But I think it's part of their over the top personas just like the "leathers", tatoos, macho attitude, exotic weapons, strange hair.  So I mentally lumped it all into the image.  I think what facinated me what how she took topics that would normally "not be my cup of tea" and rolled them into characters I liked and felt empathy for.

(I'm still trying not do spoilers, and I think all this was alluded to in earlier books.)

If someone had told me the main character would be involved in unreciprocated same-sex lust, rape, violence, and extreme S&M - this wouldn't exactly be a book I'd run to buy. But these topics are woven into the history of the character and his motivations along with his positive aspects in such a way to make it interesting, not offensive.

Also, it's been a long time since I've read a book I wanted to discuss this badly. Usually I just read, enjoy, move on. I'm not much the book club type. But I want to hear what others think about this one.

It took me a while to get used to the slang too!  It gives me some pretty uncomfortable Vanilla Ice flashbacks.  I just roll my eyes and go with it too.  I figure if the books are good in spite of that silliness, then they must be really good!  LOL!

I remember reading that she wrote dialogue the way guys would really talk.  Er, yes, modern frat boys maybe.  Wouldn't centuries-old people would have more trouble staying exactly that current?  Think of how much most teens/young adults think their parents completely miss the mark when it comes to slang, and that's only a time lag of a couple decades or so!

KarenLee - regarding Borders, perhaps it's just your area or maybe you want to check again.  I got mine at Borders on 9/27. It wasn't in the regular stack where books are by category and by author, but it was on a table of new releases. (I'd have thought they would be in both places,)

In fact, I think the whole table was along the fiction/paranormal/romance genre and there were a LOT of choices. This genre is really getting popual.

I really enjoyed the book.  I was somewhat worried that I would have problems with Vishous not getting his HEA, but it all worked out in the end.  I think she did something original, and on the edge with it, but she couldn't have let it go the way Rhage and Mary did, she had to come up with something that wasn't the same, and I think she did a good job.  She is always full of surprises, and leaving us wondering about things that will happen in the next one.   She makes it so we can't wait to get to the next book in the series to see what will happen and how things will go, and we speculate, and she throws out something we never expect.  As far as the slang, it doesn't bother me...these guys are supposed to tough, alpha males with major attitude, who can take care of their race and protect them,  (the only soft spot being for their one true love) and I guess the slang is spoken where they are from.    IMHO JR Ward is one of the best writers I have read in a LONG time, and I am so looking forward to what happens in the next one.

I finally finished mine. Its probably not one of my favorites in the series simply because I'm still grappling with the ending, but still a very excellent story for V.

The slang doesn't bother me. In fact, if she were to remove it now, I probably wouldn't connect to the brothers as well,  as thats what I see them saying alot  =)

I started a separate thread for those of us who finished the book and want to discuss it.
