Oh, yeah, LeeAnne, certain aspects of I Shall Not Want were...uh...(blush, stammer)...blazin'.  That's all I'm saying on the matter, too.

I am glad you are enjoying this series. I had to go read the pbs reviews, and it does sound good- is this a cozy series though???

Its always fun to find a new series and "click" with it!

Hmmm... I've read "In the Bleak MidWinter" which I got as a free ebook.  I also got Fountain free.  I should probably order the rest, although I do have one of them on the way.

Leslie, I would consider it one of those hybrids--not a cozy, but not a thriller or in any way dark at all.  I guess more toward the cozy end but ...  Oh I don't know what's everyone else say??

One website described her books as such:

"Spencer-Fleming has written (six) mystery thrillers featuring Reverend Clare Fergusson and Russ Van Alstyne, an Army helicopter pilot turned Episcopal priest and the local sheriff. Her novels blend elements of traditional whodunits with fast-paced detection, a bit of church politics, and just the right amount of romance."

Another site labels her books as "romantic thrillers."

Gotcha. I am a huge Rex Stout fan, so I not not puzzleing over your description at all!

Its funny, I do enjoy genre cozies like knitting series, coffeehouse series, etc... but my favorite is also the classic cozy. I think thats why I am enjoying the Miss Zukas series (first book) right now.  So far its just classic "who done it".

To all those who recommended this series by Julia Spencer-Fleming...

THANK YOU!

I ordered In the Bleak Midwinter on PBS over Labor Day and finally got around to reading it this weekend.  I am about 120 pages in and have already ordered the next one in the series.  This is what I love about this site-great people who recommend great books!  You made my weekend!

Deb
