by Susan Vreeland. Highly recommended story, ala Girl with a Pearl Earring, about Renoir's experiences while painting this masterpiece.

Absolutely a must read for anyone who's ever spent time at an art gallery admiring Impressionist work. Great fun having all those people in the painting given names and lives.

Thanks for the recommendation Linda!

I have that print hanging in my bedroom....in a college English writing class we had to write a short story using that painting as inspiration, boy were there some interesting takes on what was going on!  It was years ago but your posting made it all come back. Can't wait to read this book!

I've enjoyed all of Vreeland's books so far, and I'm looking forward to reading this one too, even more now that I know you enjoyed it. ;-)

Thanks for showing us the review!
