The Lyonesse Trilogy is, in my opinion, a modern fantasy classic. The characters are believable and the setting could be our historical Middle-Ages. Vance provides a plot full of swords, sorcery and intrigue as he is famous for doing. Elements of the book may seem bogged down in fairy-tale-cliché but the end of the novel is a fantastic summery by one of the masters of the genre.
