The Man who became Caravaggio is very well researched. Much of what is known about Caravaggio is from police records; he was quite the rascal. He had enemies and allies in the world of art. I had a large book of baroque painting beside me as a read the book and I found it helpful. I was able to see how unique his style was and compare his work with other artists of the same period who were competing with him for commissions. I highly recommend this book to those who are interested in the baroque period.
