My sister says her friend makes this and it cost $.01 per load to wash clothes and they come out clean!

Thank you for posting the link.  I have toyed with this idea for a while.  Laundry soap is so expensive.  Plus, I make my own soap, so all I need is the borax and the washing soda.  Worth a try.

I made this last night.  Used it tonight, and it worked wonderfully.  I happened to have some Gain fragrance oil, so I added some of it to the mixture tonight, smells just like Gain.  I also filled my old detergent bottle with the homemade detergent, so I wouldnt have to open the pail everytime, and its alittle more user friendly for my dd and dh .

It was quite simple to make.  I did grate some of the bar soap, but also minced some of it  up good with my butcher knife.  Worked just as well as the grater.   I used a bunch of hotel soaps I had acquired.

Thanks for posting this.

Too cool!  I got my bucket today so I can do some as soon as the bottle of detergent I have is gone.  Yea!

I use that recipe, too.  It seems to work as well as anything else.  If I crunched the numbers correctly, it's three cents a load for me.  And it was so easy.  I didn't think it could really be so easy.

I started making my own wit washing soda, borax, Fels-Naptha soap and baking soda.  WORKS EXCELLENT!!  I can't say enough about how much $$ saved!

I have a liquid recipe that I absolutely LOVE!.  I tried many but this one works.  Don't give up if you can't find the bar soap. (and don't buy it for an arm and a leg on Ebay...)

Brenda, hope you post that liquid recipe here.  Could be a better one than what I found.
