M.D. Spenser (born May 1, 1953) is the author of the 36-book Shivers series. The books were aimed at readers between the ages of 8 and 12. Spenser is an international journalist originally from the United States but now based in Britain.

The books were published by Paradise Press between 1996 and 1998, and they sold millions of copies in the United States and throughout the British Commonwealth. Spenser also wrote the six-book Humano Morphs series. In mid-2010, an internet petition was circulating asking that the entire Shivers series be republished.

Spenser is now writing a novel set in modern London, titled Some Say In Ice. He is also working on a book about running and a humorous memoir about his years in journalism. His wife, Rodica, is a political commentator. Spenser lives in southern England with his family and his parrot.
