I had 2 wishlisted books Enroute To Me from 2 different members.  Both books from the same author :Book 1 and Book 2 of a series.  I received Book 1 and accidentally marked Book 2 as Received with no problem.  (The member had just marked as mailed).  I contacted the member and contacted PBS.  So, what happens if I never receive Book 2 or it is Received With A Problem?   The member received a credit and I lost a credit with no way to change it?

I accidentally marked a book received!

Once you mark a book as received there is no way to undo this action.  The software simply doesn't "go backward" in that way.

  • When you did this, the sender got credit for sending the book.

Yes, but fortunately, lost books are fairly rare and so are RWAPs.

But since you've already contacted the other member and let them know that you marked it received early by mistake, if you do in fact have a problem with it when you get it, you could try contacting them and asking for your credit back. They are not really obligated to give it back since you marked it received normally, but most people do the right thing anyway.

If it never arrives, that's the penalty for making a misake, unfortunately.

I have rarely had any problems, but, it seems like the ones I have had are either new members or no Profile.  Which is this case.  I just need to not make mistakes myself.  (Not getting on the computer when I am half asleep).

Hopefully it will work out for you.  I've done this too - it's easy to do, don't beat up on yourself.

I had someone mark a book as received 2 hours before the mailman even picked up the book from the bluebox, lol.It was funny at the time but she never contacted me so I assumed she did eventually receive the book. Things happen....

I received the book today.  It was the wrong book and has liquid damage and brown stain.   I have sent the member a PM,  but I doubt it will help.  We will see.

From a previous PM, I informed you that I had accidentally marked the book received a day after you marked as mailed. I received the book today. But, I ordered a paperback. I received a hardcover. So, it is the wrong book. Also, there is a huge brown stain from pages 279-362 with liquid damage
Would you be so kind to return a credit, as the book is unpostable and the wrong book?
Thank you.
Lisa

I just received an email from PBS today (almost a month after the problem).  In my Transaction Archive, they changed the status to a Problem Swap.  I marked Problem Resolved since the member returned my credit.

I am wondering why PBS just now did that.  Maybe they have been having more problems with the same member?

I'd say they're probably just making it correct in case there are future problems with the member.  It was probably low priority to fix it, which is why it took a month.  I think they've been pretty busy working on the site lately.  Just my guesses though.

If they have been working on the site, you might be correct.
