I just searched "Martha Stewart" and some of her magazines are listed. Can we list magazines? I have lots of the Somerset Studio magazines, in addition to quilt magazines. This would be a great way to get them to others who would like to read them. Thanks.

No.  We cannot list magazines.  And they have to be sent by first class mail, not media rate.  We do not want all of our media mail to be stopped and inspected.  It is very important that we closely follow the media mail rules.

From help:

Media mail regulations are very strict: only media (books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes) and an invoice (page 2 of the PBS wrapper qualifies as an invoice) are allowed to be sent using Media Mail rate.  No advertising, commercial solicitation, political materials, religious tracts, non-Media items, letters, cards are allowed.

  • Media Mail is subject to postal inspection
  • If your package is found to be in violation of Media Mail regulations:
    • Your package may be returned to you
    • Your package may be delivered to the requestor postage-due
    • Your package may be destroyed.

While there may be listings for magazines and other unpostable items, that does not make them legal items to be posted to PBS. This database is compiled elsewhere and for other users so some things are included in it, that do not fit the criteria for PBS posting. Many of these items have been desgnated with tags that will tell you such, but many still have not been gotten to by those that are taking care of those items. Feel free to post these illegal items in the suspicious items topic in the Questions about PBS forum, or to tag them with one of the appropriate ILLEGAL ITEM... tags.
