Well, this is a first........not only did the book I mailed out to CO on 13 DEC not arrive, but the 4 donation checks I wrote to charities and mailed at the same time haven't been received!   Will have to do some detecting at the PO to see if my outgoing mail is sitting in someone's trunk!!

(that's where my sister in Chicago assumes her missing mail went when a postal worker was caught doing that a while back!)

Do you mail from home, counter, or blue box?  Our neighborhood was having alot of theft issues and we had to switch to a security mailbox...outgoing goes directly to our local postal branch.

I'd be worried if you put out for your carrier to pick up. Unfortunately LOTS of theft around Christmas time by people looking for Christmas cards with $$ in them and to steal presents being mailed. Watch your bank account for fraud if you don't find the checks.

I never put outgoing mail in my mailbox, I always drop it in a blue box so it's secure.

We don't have blueboxes at all in our development and very few can be found in towns nearby.....I always mail from the PO counter. (our self-serve machines don't allow media mail)

Let's hope they're in a mail truck somewhere that had problems because of the awful weather, and will still arrive, but I agree that this is troubling.  Let us know what you find out, Jeanne!

Glad the were delivered to a PO, then they are likely stuck somewhere in the USPS system. I would definitely do some asking at the PO in case the whole stack was set somewhere with the intent to sort it into the appropriate bins and then forgotten about or slid behind something.

2 of the 4 donation checks have now been received so my hope is that the book going all the way to CO is now on a slow path to find the requestor!

Going to chalk this one up as a "failed" transaction and since it's been almost 2 years since a book went lost coming to me, I figure my odds are pretty good. I was thinking I'd had another go to that locale just a year ago and 'go lost' during the horrible floods.......but turns out that one eventually got there.
