Any thoughts on the best way to package a HC with two PBs?  I don't seem to be able to find a box the right size.  Has anyone had any luck with a padded envelope, or do the corners get caught in the machines that are used to process media mail?  Any tips appreciated - I don't want the books to get butchered.  Thanks in advance!

Hi Christine-

Of course the best method would be to use a box if you could, but I use padded mailers all the time and haven't had any complaints yet. Good luck!

The only suggestion I'd have if you use a padded mailer.   Tape the envelope in both directions so it is tight against the books even if it makes for a funny shape.   One book sliding around in there can tear the envelope.

Whenever I send a HC book, I put it into a cereal box and stuff the box with crushed newspaper.  I also wrap the book in plastic first.

I place the two paperbacks side by side and then place the hardback on top of them.   I wrap each one separtely in saran wrap and tape with packing tape to make the books stable.  I then put in envelope or wrap in paper, depending on size of final package.

looks kinda like this:

                                                       |--            Hardcover                --|

                                                   |-  Paperback1 -| |-   Paperback2  -|

I've done what Lita suggests quite often, if I don't have a box that's a good size.

Thanks to you all.  I packed them as suggested in plastic and then a padded envelope smothered in packing tape, and it seems to work fine.  Fingers crossed that it arrives in good shape!
