Sinclair is very depressing in this book and it is over 500 pages long. Can't say I will read another one of his books.

This novel made Lewis a best-selling author. His satire resonated with people made apathetic and angry by hot air, posturing, and exercise of raw power by the powerful. Small town life grinds down college educated Carol Kennicott, who’s romantic and silly enough to think she can turn a burg into a sophisticated spot.
