I thought this was an outstanding debut novel. In it the heroine Maisie Dobbs is introduced to mystery fans. She has just opened her one-woman detective agency in London. The first case that she takes on leads her to face her past in the first World War when she served as a nurse in France. She is a very intuitive and likeable character, and I look forward to other Maisie Dobbs novels.
