I was not happy when at my last checkup, my doc told me that they had pushed back the age for first time mammograms from 40 to 35, which means I'm 3 years overdue.  So today I go for my first mammogram.  I'm not nervous, but a little apprehensive.  I've watched my mom go for years and years and she says it's not that bad. BUT  I'm VERY top heavy and I'm a bit worried about having a cantaloupe squished into a pancake!

So, ladies, any advice on keeping calm, like, Hey, it's no big thing, won't hurt a bit, Don't be a dang baby!  LOL

As you can see the subject is painful enough that no one is able to reply!LOL  I've had one that went as painless as possible I imagine and three that, well, let's say I would have cut it off right then if I thought I could have gotten out of the contraption.  I wore a sports bra and took Tylenol before I went this year and it seemed easier but I think it all comes down to the tech performing the mammogram.  Definitely avoid the week of your period-made that mistake and don't have to be reminded again.  The technician told me its a little harder with women who are top heavy and have dense tissue (which I have both).  Hope it all went well for you!

Thanks, Dawn :)   It went fine, no discomfort, and it was fast!  Defintely top heavy with dense tissue, but she said she wished more of her patients were as easy as me :)  So hopefully my pictures come back fine and I wont' have go again til next year.
