Okay, I admit, I can't stand it.  Manny's behavior is so weird that I am going to try to keep a running blog about what he says and does throughout the season.  So far the Dodgers seem to be putting up with him fairly well, but it is just a matter of time until the "Manny being Manny, Man" stuff starts getting old.  Here goes:

  • 3/12 - Conversation between Manny this week and one of his team mates.  He has just showed up for training camp.  Manny, "You're late, man - I've been here since 6:30."  Team mate's reply, "I've been here three weeks."    :)
  • 3/13 - Is Manny getting tired of camp already?  He is scratched for the spring training game today because of a "tight hamstring".  Perhaps this is a reason to actually attend the whole training camp?  Just saying.

This should be fun to follow! :-)

Didn't he come out of a game just last night with a "tweaked" hammy as well?

Those hamstrings come in awfully handy.  :)

  • 3/17 - Manny Ramirez's hamstring injury will keep him out of spring training games for at least a week.  Rameriz aggravated his sore left hamstring Sunday while playing the outfield for the first time.

Training camp? We don't need no stinking training camp!  (quote mine)   :)

You all can relax - Manny is back in the game and his famous hamstring is improving.  This quote in response to a question about where Manny would rate his conditioning at this point must have made Joe Torre's day:

  • "Maybe 50% but who cares? (maybe Joe Torre?? his teamates??)  It's a long season, that's the way I look at it."

All seems to be well in Mannyworld for the time being.  :)

It's been pretty quiet in Manny-land, but we have a winner from yesterday.

  • Manny hit a home run in the game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. He made history here by being one of the few players to hit a home run in all 30 ballparks.  Very impressive - really.
  • The Manny moment came when he dropped a ball he had caught in left field making an error.

I've always though that Manny plays in the perfect position - out in left field.  :)

After Manny dropped that ball Sunday, he had this to say about it:

  • "I just dropped it. Tori Hunter, he's got 10 Gold Gloves and he misses sometimes. What about me? I don't even got a silver one."

So many thoughts come to mind ~

There's a very good reason for that Manny. or

Don't worry Manny, no one else has a silver glove either.   or

It's okay for you to drop it if Tori Hunter does? I doubt he has dropped anywhere near the balls you have Manny.

:)

In honor of the upcoming football season, I see that Manny was practicing his tackles last week, tackling his Center Field teamate.  Also missed a "pass" from one of the opposing batters.
