Has anyone read this?  I just saw the film based on this book and really enjoyed it, though it was odd.  I had to put the book on my WL. :)

I saw the movie but haven't gotten around to the book yet.

Also, good morning. ;)

I've read the Fraser bio twice. MA certainly had an eventful life and it makes for good reading. Fraser did very well with this book. The movie was so bizarre, but it was still fun to watch. I loved the clothes. ;-)

Yes, I read this about 9 months ago and it is in my "keeper" collection.  I found it to be a very thoughtful and enlightening biography.  The artwork in the book is wonderful.  I just recently finished Abundance which is also about Marie's life as princess and queen of France.  It was really great to grab my biography as I was reading the novel and refer to the portraits mentioned in the book.  The author of Abundance obviously used the Journey for some of her source material.  I think reading both will increase your enjoyment and understanding of this very misunderstood lady.  I did see the movie and agree with Valli.  It was bizarre but great fun to watch.  The costumes take your breath away.

LOL, I had to laugh when I saw "No spoilers" in the subject. OK, won't tell you how it ends then....

;-)

When the film came out I didn't have much desire to see it. The trailers just turned me off and I am a rabid MA fan (for lack of a better term....)

I felt the same way at first about seeing the movie as you did, Marci, but the clothes made it all worth it. They were so beautiful! I'd like to wear just one of those dresses for a day, and then go back to my jeans. ;-)

I have Abundance on my TBR shelf.  It looks really good.

I didn't mind the movie.  It was kind of kitschy and fun.

LOL Marci! ;D

The movie was wonderful, yet quirky.  I loved Kirsten Dunst in the role.  The costuming and make-up was incredible.  I think you would enjoy it as well.
