I am in a similar situation. All you can really do is wait it out for now. It would be unfair to the member to falsely accuse them of not mailing when they possibly already have. Most likely it is a glitch, but you never know.

The "Label Print Date(s):" text is centered vertically in the cell. The label was accessed 5 times:

11/9/2011 3:22 AM ET
11/9/2011 3:26 AM ET
11/17/2011 11:39 AM ET
11/22/2011 3:00 AM ET
11/22/2011 3:00 AM ET

I would make note of the date printed on the postage.  And when or if it ever gets to you, contact PBS and ask them to look at the scans.  I have had some print the label on the 2nd, click mailed but do not get around to mailing it until anywhere from 3-10 days later.  I hate it when they do that.  Actually according to the Post Office, it is stale postage and should be postmarked the day it is finally mailed.  I do realize there may be an emergency but at least PM me.

They may not be using a printed label.  You can pull the image of the label up on your computer to access the address.  It will show as printing the label.  I know I've done that from time to time if my printer was out of ink or giving me problems.  If you receive the book before the "lost" date - do make a note of the postmark date and include that with the info when you mark the book received.

How can you see the label of a book sent to you? I never knew you could. Thank you for telling us.

Priscilla, if you  mean how can you see the label print information given in some of the posts, you can do that by going into your transaction archive, locating the book in question and clicking on the link 'request details'.  If you mean you want to see the actual label itself, you cannot do that online; you will only be able to see the label when the book arrives.  Hope that helps.

Cindy is talking about the sender being able to see the label or address w/o actually printing it out.  You can look up the address of a book after you've mailed it and it will show as a "printing" even if you didn't print it out.  In fact if you use the hand address button, it'll still show as a lable printing.  This is to prevent people from cancelling a request once the sender has accessed the address.

So those dates just show that the person looked at the address after they marked it mailed. It doesn't necessarily mean that they didn't mail it on time and were reprinting the label.

I still dont understand how the book can be marked as mailed on the 14th but the first time the label was accessed... looked at... printed ... was on the 17th?

How do they know where to mail the book if they dont even look at the address label?

Normally it wouldnt be a big deal but this particular book was for a class I was teaching and i ended up ordering the SAME book from another member and already got that copy within 5 days.

Every time you open the transaction details to look at the address, it is listed by PBS as a "printing". In the case of the OP, the label was first printed on 11/9, not the 17th. (The book was accepted once, on the 9th. The label was accessed 5 times, starting on the 9th).

So, the sender to the OP either mailed it on time, and then keep looking at the address for some reason, or she printed the label, marked it mailed, and then needed to reprint the label for whatever reason.

If the book arrives before it gets marked lost by the system, the question is moot anyway. There is no punishment for late mailing that still arrives within the mailing period, beyond the receiver putting in the mail date and having PBS note it in case the sender does it more often.

As Sara and Cathy pointed out above, the first access to the label was on the 9th.  The 5 dates for label printed/looked at are centered with the text of "Label Print Date(s):".

This is how you can tell if you want to get techinical. If you look closely at the list, there is a big gap between all the different categories (date accepted, date mailed, label printed, etc.).  But there are small spaces between those 5 dates.  That way you know they are grouped together.  Then the text of "Label Print Date(s):" appears in the exact middle of all 5 dates.

Unless there is a major site glitch, there is no way for a person to mark a book mailed until the label has been accessed at least once.  The mark mailed button will be "grayed out" until the label is accessed.

I do PBS DC on certain books (APO/FPO, PO Boxes, books to AK, HI, VI, PR, etc.)  As there's no way to tell whether the book is going to a PO Box or an apartment, until you've started the printing process, so I have to back out and go back to put the DC in, so it will show that I've accessed and 'printed' at least twice, but in reality only printed once.  Pat
