A few days ago I marked a book received that I haven't received yet. I did mark the correct one after noticing the error. The covers of each book in the series are so alike and the 'wrong' book was mailed a week prior to the one I received. I PM'd the sender of the wrong book received and let her know what I did. I haven't heard from her... Should I just wait 'till it times out (if I don't receive it) to PM her again?

I don't understand-if you marked it received incorrectly there's nothing you can do to change that.  It's rude of her not to respond to the PM but since you marked it received alreayd I don't know what else you can do.  You can report to PBS that she's not answering your PMs but they don't normally get involved with RWPs.

If you didn't mark the book you were supposed to receive and the transaction is still in the Enroute To Me Tab-then let it go lost. You'll get your credit back.  I guess if she never responds you can reorder the book you wanted and post the book you didn't want.

I've done this when I had a couple of books coming in in a series. I marked a book received when I hadn't yet received it. I just waited and sure enough the book came along. I figure the person just got their credit a bit earlier is all. I don't know that the person who sent the book can do anything on their end anyway. I mean, if he/she mailed the book, you just happened to mark it received ahead of time. They can't do anything about it--and them returning the credit wouldln't make sense because you'd have to give it back to them when the right book comes along.

You are saying you had 2 books on the way to you from a series and when you received book X, you accidentally marked book Y received instead right? Hopefully the book is on its way to you too and it will arrive shortly. The sender may not have responded to you because the book is on its way and there wasn't really anything to say. I'd give it some time to get to you. I am not sure what you mean by *wait until it times out* because if you marked it received there would be no timing out. There is nothing that can be done if the book never arrives, the site can't undo a book marked as received.

Melanie, LOL:) The book can't time out! It's been 'received'!

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it. She's probably busy, especially since it's the weekend, and y'all are right... There's nothing she can do at this point. I guess at first I thought since it was mailed earlier I would be getting it before the one mailed later, but I gotta remember how the mail works sometimes. (IF I don't get it after about 4-5 weeks after the mail date, then I'll PM her again.)

(Mary, I requested 3 books from the same series - Masters of Time by Brenda Joyce - from 3 different people. The covers are so alike. I got one and marked the wrong one received, but then marked the right one received.)

I would let tptb know of your error.  Maybe they can repost it as not yet received.

I agree with babs, there's a very good chance the book will arrive without incident.  Check the date, and if it gets close to what would have been the 'lost' date you could try contacting TPTB, but they really want the site to run 'hands off' whenever possible.

PBS will not/cannot change the marking of a book received to unreceived. I've had several people over time that have sent me this question as a Tour Guide, and PBS has never done it for any of the members I've sent to tthem that have done exactly the same thing. Matter of fact, I think I did this myself once and it didn't get changed, yeah, I did I remember now. The book came in ok, but if it hadn't I would have had no recourse.

Ditto Sherry - the team won't do anything, so contacting them about this would not make any difference.

I marked one received in error and never got it - never made THAT mistake again!

Yeah, I don't think I'll go to the PBS team about it.

I keep looking at the books I did receive to make sure... When I first started here at PBS I was so caught up on points that I was a stickler on every little thing! It's just one point (IF I don't get it), BUT that's one point I received for wrapping up and mailing out a book to another member, lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's made that mistake!!

I got the book today. Was mailed on 3/7 when it was marked mailed 2/26. Only 9 days... A PM would have been nice...

Actually, a pm was required Leslie.  Make sure you note the postmark/postage date when logging in - ack, you can't.  I'd be tempted to contact TPTB...I mistakenly marked this bookd (transactin ID #), book arrived with late postage date.

Think I should contact TPTB? I'd hate to bother them with something that may not be a big deal to them.

I would contact them, because if it is a habit of the sender, they need to know.

I woudn't bother contacting them about it, because that is info that they collect on an optional form in the first place. Only some members fill it in every time, others just ignore it or click right past it.

Is the optional form the form you fill out when you receive a book? I had already filled out that form when I marked the book received in error.
