Volume 2 of MARS continues the saga of Rei and Kira's romance, delving more thoroughly into Rei's dark past and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his brother's death, and bringing Rei and Kira closer together. The series takes a melodramatic turn here, which is what made me lose interest. Lighthearted comedy, this is not.
They say that opposites attract, and in the case of artist Kira and biker Rei, that couldnt be more accurate. To innocent Kira, it may seem like a dream come true that the most popular guy in the school is going out with her, but that dream becomes a nightmare when jealous girls start plotting against her. Jealousy leads to desperation, and desperation leads to suicide. Kira soon finds her life more complicated than she can handle. Cutting-edge storytelling for todays teens, Mars is a story that no shojo manga fan should be without.
Great story, wonderful art. Though, I found this volume a little confusing.
