This is a sequel to Robinson's epic trilogy on the colonization of Mars. These works are among the very best science fiction I have ever read. I strongly recommend that people interested in this book have read the previous books Red Mars, Green Mars and Blue Mars first (in that order) to have the proper context.

The detail Robinson goes into with this book is fantastic. One would almost believe the man was a part of a group sent to Mars. A very good read.
