This should be read by anyone in the health care field. You can never assume that just because someone cannot move, that their brain is not working. That this individual could keep his sanity and come out the other end as a happy, functioning member of society is truly wonderful and amazing.

Very interesting read. There are a few graphic sexual portions, so this book would not be good for children. It is definitely an eye opener into the life of a disabled person. You truly feel for this man and cheer at what his life is now.

This book deserves six stars or more. It is well written, without a shred of self pity or bitterness. How this man came to emerge from his disabled cocoon after decades of helplessness is an amazing story. His mind was active and complete long before he was able to indicate he could hear and see. He was forced to do nothing more than observe the world around him. When he is finally able to communicate, his brilliance shines out of his disabled, helpless body. An excellent and inspiring book. D.
