I was up till 3:00 am finishing it. WOW - from start to finish this book was pure perfection to me. I will not be posting this lol. Has anyone read The Ideal Wife - the connected novel? Was it any good?

Oh and thank you to whoever it was here who recommended this novel! So again - can you ladies list your favorites. I have read Slightly Dangerous, A Summer to Remember, Simply Love, The Secret Pearl and now A Precious Jewel. I am thinking of orderering More Than A Mistress as it got good reviews. My favorites so far are A Precious Jewel, The Secret Pearl and Slightly Dangerous. Wow can this woman write!!!

The Ideal Wife is written by Mary-so of course I'm gonna recommend you'd read it(grin). It also has my favorite historical storyline of an arranged marriage, so my opinion is not at objective.

I will say that-as the Precious Jewel is-The Ideal Wife is a re-release of Mary's earlier work which I prefer(in a big way depending on the book) over what she's doing now.  Not that I don't like her current work-particuliarly the Huxtable series-but that I prefer her older trads over her move to Regency Historicals.  Darker, more angsty(ok, I made up that word).

Gerald and Priss also appear in another book-briefly but I can't remember which one.  Pretty sure it was a Christmas one-Christmas Bride or Christmas Beau maybe??? I like catching up with former lead characters-esp. since their HEA was so hard won.

I think you're thinking of  Christmas Bride. It should be reprinted soon, too.

An Ideal Wife is very different from A Precious Jewel... much lighter, frothier. I like it, but it doesn't have that emotional impact.
