Quarter horse racing presented a challenge and thrill tht few men in the Old West could resist. An unlikely three-some, Dude McQuinn, Coyote Walking, and Uncle Billy Lockhart were no exception, as they rode from town to town, cleverly matching and trading racehorses. Dude is the staight-talking front man who is a master at the round-about, unhurrried approach which is a required prelude to setting up a race; Coyote Walking is the jockey, an Eastern-educated Comanche and a natural at what he does; and Uncle Billy is the "doctor", concocting potions that can cure a horse of anything-at least temporarily.
