This was the second Redwall book I've read... I loved it! From the cheeky otter Cheek, to the witty Mattimeo with his gang, to 'SissyMay' to the Ghost that haunts the Abbey, it was a great read (except for that whining little Cynthia Bankvole ;) once the innocently young Tim, Tess and Mattimeo were captured by the evil Slagar the Cruel, it was hard to put the book down! You can't help but feel the energy when the Sparra Queen dashes recklessly into battle to save Matthias, or the desperation when the brave Cornflower is taken hostage along with Mrs. Churchmouse and Baby Rollo... I fully recommend this book for any book-loving animal-freak, or just anybody who loves to be transported to another world through the pages of a book!

Great kids book with adventure, great morals, and delicious-sounding food.
I was addicted to Redwall for some time, this is a good story and this is one of the major heroes.A little long but good work.
Slagar the fox hated Redwall Abbey - its peaceable creatures, its fearless mouse warrior Matthias. He blamed Matthias for the injuries he's suffered...but his quest for vengeance would have to be a cunning one, for he knew the power of the legendary Redwall sword.
Above all, he knew, the Redwallers cherished their young. So Slagar would steal them from under their very noses - and the greatest prize of all would be Matthia's headstrong son, Mattimeo.
