I have 2 books, one ordered on 3/2 and one ordered on 3/4. Both member said they would mail by 3/7. Well they still haven't been marked mailed yet. There are other books in the system so I guess I'll jump to the next person in line. But I'm afraid of requesting the book again from someone else and then the first person PMing me that they mailed the book and I owe them a credit when I get it. I'm kinda annoyed by the one cuz it's a CSI book I really want and there aren't any other copies in the system.

So what is standard procedure with this problem?

When a person says they will mail by 3/7 (for example), they have until 3/9 at 11pm to actually mark the book as mailed.  If they do not mark the book mailed by this time and you receive the book, you do not have to give them a credit.

If the person does not mark the book as mailed at 3/9 11:01pm one of two things happen.  If it is a wishlist book, it will go back on your wishlist (even if you already have 200 books on it.  This is why you sometimes see wishlists with 201 books on it) with you as number one.  If it was a "normal" book, then the request will rollover to the next person in the FIFO line.  I'm not sure what happens if you requested the only book in the system.  My gut says that the book would go to your wishlist, but you never know.  :)

I just wanted to make sure I'm not obligated to give them a credit. I mean it's one thing if they mailed it, and PMd me and said they had comptuer troubles or whatever. I'd be happy to give them the credit back. But if the book isn't marked mailed and I don't hear from them, well then I'd be annoyed cuz I'd have to wait and see if I get their copy before I order another one.

Check your transaction archive. They might have already passed the request on to someone else.  The system will automatically do that 2 days after the mail by date if there's another copy in the system.  You are only obligated to give a credit to the one that marks it mailed on time.  If they PM you and say they mailed it but forgot to mark it so, I would at least try to cancel the 2nd request.  But if it's already gone through, you only have to give the credit to the 2nd person.

yes- if you order the only copy of a certain boko in the system and it times out or is cancelled by the other member it goes on your wishlist.

Well I heard back from both of them. The one lady marked it mailed and said she was away all weekend. The other one just told me that she mailed it but it's still not marked mailed :/
