When a book shows members wishing: 0, does that mean the book was previously wished for? Some books have this, and some show no mention of the number of members wishing. I'm thinking this would help determine if a book is worth listing, vs a book that there will never be demand for.

It means that there are no copies of that ISBN posted but that no was is currently wishing it either.  It's hard to say how quick it'll get ordered. Some books have 100's of copies posted but are constantly being ordered and so the FIFO line moves quickly.  Other books are only copies and sit and sit.

Most of the time when I post the only copy of a book it gets ordered pretty quickly just from being on the Books Posted Today page.  The exception is when I have an oddball copy of a book that's heavily posted in other ISBNs.

It just means that there isn't a copy currently in the system.  I have found that if I have posted the only copy of a book it will get ordered sooner or later.  Please post!  You never know what people are looking for.  I've ordered a few books off my rememinder list that were unposted when I added them, then when they were posted, I snapped them up.

I'm planning to post the book anyway, but just wondering if the "members wishing:0" vs no mention of members wishing means anything, such as if there has ever been activity on the book.

If you click through to the book's individual page it will always say "wishing: 0" if it is an unposted book with no wishers currently, regardless of its history.  The only way to guage it at all would be to briefly add it to your WL, where you will be able to see the last tme it was posted (but not wished for).

I think your question has already been answered, but I also think I can help clear up any remaining confusion. If it says "members wishing: 0" that means there are no copies currently in the system. If it doesn't say anything about members wishing, that means that there are copies currently available in the system, and the copies that are currently posted will be ahead of yours in line when someone orders that book. (Another way to see the difference is that if it mentions anything about "members wishing," the top button at the right will be "Post This Book," because there aren't any copies available. However, when it doesn't mention anything about "members wishing," the top button at the right will be "Order This Book," because there ARE copies currently available.) If you want to know where you'd be in line for a book that already has copies available, you can add it to your reminder list. When you view your reminder list, it will tell you how many copies are available of each book.

The RL doesn't tell you your position in line after it's been posted a while. Nor does it tell you how fast the line is moving.  But don't let a high post number discourage you. I've posted several books that had 200+ in the system and had them ordered with just a month or two.
