This is probably a stupid question, but I've never had this problem before. For almost every book on my wishlist, when I check the actual listing the Members wishing number is (at least) one less than what my wish list tells me. For example, I just added a book to my WL that said there were 0 wishers. On my wish list it is telling me I am 2 of 2. When I check the listing now, it says that there is 1 wisher (presumably because I just added it). Up until now, I've found the 2 numbers to be the same.

Just found it odd. Explanation? Is it because of vacation hold with autorequest on?

Well in some places it counts pending transactions and vacations holds and it other places it doesn't.

Thanks Mary, that's what I suspected. Just seems weird that they wouldn't have those 2 numbers synced.

I felt a little tricked LOL. :)

Janelle, I've also noticed those two numbers are often different :-)

That makes me think that the "Members Wishing" function is updated less frequently. For example, if the "Members Wishing" function were only updated once a day, say at midnight, then transactions occurring through the day wouldn't be reflected until tomorrow. It would, indeed, be nice if everything synched up perfectly, but I expect there are limits on bandwidth and computing power, and if PBS has to prioritize which things can work in real time and which must wait to be updated, this one might be further down the list.

Amy, yeah it's not a big deal at all to me really. It's not like I thought I'd be #1 and then ended up #101. Then I'd be a little bit miffed! I just thought it was odd, as I had never noticed it before.

I notice that all the time too. Today I put one on my WL and it said in the book details it had 19 wishers. I put it on my WL and 20 seconds later when I found it on the WL to put it on auto-request, it said I was 23 of 23. Not a big deal really, but it is odd!

I don't think it's all that odd.  There are pending transactions for that WL.  So until they are completed the prior transaction has to be considered unfilled until mark received.

Ruth, for this book there couldn't have been pending transactions, it's not being released until January of next year.

I just added a book to my WL that said there were 0 wishers. On my wish list it is telling me I am 2 of 2.

This will be because another person wishing for it that has their account on hold. The place in line will reflect everyone who is on the wish list, but the # on the page will reflect the number of active wishes, since anyone on hold won't be accepting an offer right now so they aren't included.

Ah, that's different!  I have so many new (to be released) books on My WL that it's very nice to hear this reason.

Same for my transaction, it's not being released til many months in the future, so there couldn't be any transactions for it.

On the same note, one of my not-yet-released wishlisted books had a "Wishes granted last week: 1" notice on it. Huh? The book isn't due to be released until September, so how was there a wish granted? Surely the system doesn't count a wish granted for something like a book mistakenly posted that's then cancelled?
