An autobiography of McCarthy's early life after the death of her parents in 1918. Mary and her three brothers first live with a great-aunt and her cruel husband. After five years the children are rescued by a Protestant grandfather and Jewish grandmother. The book chronicles Mary's journey through childhood. Also eight pages of family photos.
Interesting story. Got slow in the middle, but still a good read.
This is a vintage 1963 copy with minor wear but is tight and intact.
