A very slow, gentle story with an unusual approach to the Holocaust/WWII/rural Poland - and there's a mystery. This is a first novel(apparently the only one)by a Missouri born Los Angeles Times journalist who was their Eastern European Bureau Chief based in Warsaw. Unfortunate that he didn't write more, this is a lovely book.
