The best authors ever though i cant vouch for david webers honor harrington series until I read them they are great sci-fi and fantasy books.

I love Mercedes Lackey.  I'm not planning to post too many of her books here because I do tend to re-read them a lot but I did just post one of those Valdemar anthologies (where only one story is actually by Mercedes Lackey).

I've never tried David Weber, but I read the first couple of Valdemar books and was surprised by how much I enjoyed them...I usually have a hard time relating to young women characters in books, but these were well written and interesting for me, and I am slowly collecting the rest of the massive Valdemar series.
