I checked in 2 books in from the same sender without looking closely at them.    They broke the rules.   I'm assuming there is nothing I can do about it.   I PMed the sender requesting my credits back but they have ignored me so far.  One of the 2 books was a children's book and almost all of the pages were taped back in the book.    I just can't imagine what they were thinking.

Is there any way to ban someone from sending you books?   There are a few folks that I really would not like to receive books from again and right now the only way I know to arrange that is keep a list of their names and cancel the transaction once I can tell its from them, but then I have to double check every request I make.

Edith, the whole premise of PBS is to promote fair swapping amongst all members and thus, there isn't any official way to "ban" someone from sending to you or mark them as a person with whom you wish not to trade.  The only reliable way to accomplish this is the way you are doing it, and keep a list and cancel transactions you receive with them.

ETA:  even though you weren't able to mark them officially as RWAP, you should still notify Sender of the problems and your request for credit refund.  Give them a week deadline to respond, (i.e.  Please respond by next Friday, Jan. XX as I would like to resolve this issue.) and if they do not respond by that time, you can send in a note to the site administrators for non-responsiveness.

Unfortunately there isn't.  All you can do is keep track of the people you don't want to do business with.  Keep their username and the name that is after their username (that is their PM address).  Then when you get an order for a book or you find that an order you made is from them, simply cancel the order.  Click on the PM button to see if the PM names match.

I have a list of about 5 people here whom I do not wish to do business with and that's how I handle it.  Especially with wish list books.  I don't want my wish list books going to any of them.

You can contact TPTB using the "contact us" button at the bottom of the screen and let them know about the condition of the book.  That way it is documented.

I don't want my wish list books going to any of them.

Very mature.

You do realize that if you request a book and then cancel it because it is coming from someone you choose not to do business with you will go to the end of the line, assuming there is one. And by the same token, if you accept a request from some one and then decline to send it once you find out who is requesting it, you go to the back of the list. And if you are ok with that, fine I guess.

And if you are posting a WL book, it will go FIFO unless you post it directly to someone's WL.  If you cancel the transaction, it won't go to the next person.  If you post it again after canceling the transaction, it will still go to the first person in line.

Besides, you aren't inflicting harm on another person by not trading with them.  Someone will eventually post a WL book to them so they won't really be missing out on anything.  And if you decline a book, you go to the end of the line.  Besides, if I want a WL book bad enough, I will but it.  I'm not patient enough to wait.

I don't think Kate is being spiteful when she says she doesn't want a WL book going to someone she has had bad business dealings with - you just don't want to lose your shipping and credits, especially for a book that is in demand.

Kathy, if this was the scenario then that would be OK. But it's not.

Speaking as No. 1 on Kate's list of people she will not "do business with" (she told me this in a thread last night) it has to do with a couple threads where Kate insists that anyone not using plastic is basically a poor trader, a slacker and doesn't care about the books. She was not very pleasant. This is despite the fact that PBS does not require plastic.

Now, I use plastic all the time but I (and many, many others) found her to be rather rude to those who have valid, or other, reasons for not using plastic. I told her as such, as did many others. I also questioned how she could be so rude and nasty to others when she was a brand new person to PBS. That's how I made it to No. 1 on her list. At least I think so because I've never swapped books with her. Now, I guess that could be considered "bad business dealings" but on the whole It's pretty ridicules since I've never sent a book to her or vice versa.

But, as someone said, it's she who loses her place, not me so it's all A-Ok with me.
