An excellent book if you want interesting views on various significant biblical leaders. For me, it is a good supplement to a class I attend where we discuss such things. Wiesel writes clearly, and his style is not academic so you can understand things without having to reread over and over. Sometimes, I am not sure what Wiesel believes, himself, and what he is reporting as the general belief of others. In the section about Adam (and Eve) for example, the outlandish talking trees, animals, etc. are written in a manner that defies all rational consideration and I wondered how can a rational man accept this as fact. At the very end he clears that up, but not before I wanted to set the book aside as just so much fundamentalist clap trap. I will keep this book in my personal library, I think, and not put it back in circulation.
