Interesting (and peculiar) old book. The author was an American, born in New York City, but was taken to Ireland shortly after birth and was educated in Ireland, at Dublin University.
Thus, the story is written in the Irish dialect. It tells the story of the journey of Marco Polo to China, and his attempted conversion of Kubla Khan, his daughter Golden Bells, and his people to Christianity. Marco Polo speaks with an Irish dialect as does Kubla Khan and Golden Bells.
