Graduate student Beth agrees to be a surrogate mother for a childless couple. When she has an abnormal genetics test, they want her to abort but she refuses and runs.

Rhoda has been baptized into the Mennonite community and assumed the position of head midwife at Hopen Haus. She is trying to hide secrets and keep the the home for unwed mothers running with each new babies cry reminding her of her concealed past.

Amelia arrives keeping secrets of her own and now Rhoda's past and future collides.

This is not your typical Mennonite/Amish story. Very intriguing and as I have a history of working Ob/Gyn was very entertaining for me.
