Often recommended for the younger set as required reading in schools or homeschools. Useful for study of letter M and letter S, units on transportation, construction, machines.
Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel, Mary Anne, can dig faster than 100 men! The story of how Mike proves this, and Mary Anne's fate in a world where the technology is surpassing her, is a beloved tale of children young and old. A classic.

This is a classic loved by children and adults alike. This engaging tale tells of Mike and his wonderful steam shovel named Mary Anne. Mike and Mary Anne work hard, but will they be able to dig the cellar for the new town hall in just one day? A wonderful story with a sweet ending.

I loved this book as child and my two year old likes it also. Now I think more about the messages of advancing technology and the value of the craftsperson but my son just likes the pictures!
