I don't care if this is fiction instead of a memoir, it's a great read, and really true-to-life (according to addicts I've asked about it).

I started reading this book before all the controversy...and I'm glad I did because I was so arrested by the book by the time all the "truth" came out, I ended up not caring what was true and what was not. It's a great story no matter how you look at it.

Great strange read. Once I found out that James Frey wrote the entire book as fiction , it was a complete turn off.

Augusten Burroughs book Dry, is a better book, and better written.

A big part of the power of this book was the idea that it was a true memoir. It has been revealed that large parts were fabricated, and that diminishes the impact of the story, and kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
