I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten the mini-challenge that was supposed to start today. I sent in feedback to TPTB and I'm waiting on them to respond before I start the fun. I should have sent my feedback in a bit sooner, but that I actually did forget. ;-)

Stay tuned! When I'm ready, I'll change the title of this thread and let you know.

I still haven't heard back, so I don't know....

Does anyone other than me and Vicki even want to have another challenge? Really, I don't want to play; I just want to be the boss of the challenge. ;-)

I think I might have lost Vicki too. Where is she?

LOL, Valli -- I have the perfect (virtual) gift for you. Unfortunately, I can't copy it here but I'm hoping this link will work: Gift for Valli

I was looking forward to a mini challenge.  I do better at this kind of challenge rather than the reading one.  The minute a book is on list that I have to read I no longer want to read it.  Then it feels like work.

Valli, I'm curious enough to try but it depends on how much typing is required.  The connection for my keyboard went dead so i'm typing everything w/ the onlne keyboard and the mouse. It's like typing with one finger and takes forever!

LOL, Deb! With me being as retiring and quiet and shy as I am here on a daily basis, you probably wouldn't believe that I have a type "A" personality in real life. No, really, it's true.

Now that I think about it, I don't think it was Vicki that missed the mini-challenges. Was it you, Donna? Or, Sheila? I can't remember anything anymore. All I know is somebody said they missed the mini's and I pounced on that like a shark.

Anyway, TPTB said we can have our mini-challenge and it's okay if I send out prizes. It's okay because this isn't a game where the members that play can lose out on anything.

Anyway, I'm going out of town for the holiday weekend and I'm sure lots of us are going to be busy this weekend, so we'll start next week when everyone isn't as busy.

Amerigo, there will be typing, but maybe you'll have your keyboard fixed before we start next week. What do you need to fix it?

Valli...it wasn't me that missed the minis, but it sounds like fun.  ;)

Vicky, I just realize I have been spelling your name wrong! As someone whose name is always mangled, I am do dorry! I solemnly swear to never do it again.

I don't want to play either; I just want to win a prize.

I can actually totally understand that, but I think you are going to do particularly well at this mini-challenge. I really do. ;-)

Valli, no worries.  I quite often get called by my last name, so an "i" instead of a "y" is nuthin'!

Do dorry? WTH is that? LOL! Well at least you are too much of a dear to call me out when my posts don't make sense, unlike some others around here who love to torment me. ;-)

Geez, I should probably try typing a little slower. It's probably hard to take an apology seriously when it sounds so stupid, huh?! LOL!

Vicky, I've really, really been wanting to call you VickyJo because I think it sounds so cute. That reminds me of when I got my last name changed when I was 5 years old. My step-father adopted me and we had to go in front of the judge to change my last name to his. The judge asked me if I wanted my name changed and I said yes, IF he would change it to Mary-Ann. The judge and my parents laughed and he told me he could only change my last name that day and I can totally remember being just infuriated. I told him that if he didn't change it to Mary Ann, I wasn't changing my name at all and when he still said he couldn't so it, I threw a fit. A full-blown, falling out on the floor, and kicking your feet kind of fit. LOL! I don't know why I was so hung up on Mary Ann, but at the age of 5, I wanted that name more than anything and I can remember fully expecting to have my name changed to it that day. My parents still have photos of that day and I'm angry in all of them, lol.

Did it have anything to do with Gilligan's Island Valli?

I'm not as nice as Vicky.  I hate when people get my name wrong! When I was in 6th grade, I clearly remember my teacher calling on me and calling me "Christy".  I just sat there looking at him and didn't answer. That's not my name, so he wasn't talking to me!  I'm a little more mature about it now :)

Valli, I LOVE your story!  That's so funny.  And quite commendable that your step-father adopted you anyway, after the tantrum. cheeky

I have always HATED Vicky Jo.  With a PASSION.  My mom's sister is named Jo, so it was a nod to her, plus my dad's family is all from Tennessee where things like this happen more frequently than in Michigan.  So all my southern relatives called me Vicky Jo.  But I've mellowed with age, and it doesn't bother me now. But getting called by my last name does bug me.  That's why I'm not revealing it here.  Y'all will forget my name's Vicky!

Your typo "do dorry" just cracked me up.  I have a friend on the boards here, (we're also friends on FB) and she quite often switches "s" and "d" when typing.  My favorite typo of hers was when she finished Jodi Picoult's "Dongs of the Humpback Whale."  I still haven't quite recovered from that one! LOL...

"Dongs of the Humpback Whale"

LOL - I nearly spit coffee all over the keyboard on that one.

Oh, that was too funny. I'm wiping up coffee with Donna.

The mini-challenge is on hold for a little longer. I have to leave in a few minutes for an unexpected trip to Houston. I'm thinking it may be best to start the mini on Aungust 1st, since I had it planned as a month's worth of activities and I'm not totally sure how long I'll be gone. Nothing is wrong in Houston, just picking up a stranded friend. ;-)

Be back soon! I have to miss the 4th of July party today. Boo.

Be safe heading to Houston, Valli.  I have some friends who are stranded there as well.  17 people from our church who were headed to Ecuador on a mission trip.  Their flight from Baton Rouge to Houston on Friday was cancelled, so they drove to Houston trying to catch the flight to Quito and it was cancelled too because of the bad weather in Houston and in Ecuador.  Four of them were re-scheduled for today and the rest will go tomorrow.

Looking forward to the Mini-Challenge! I'm not very good at them, but I like to try!

Oh, Vicky, Vicky, Vicky -- you really should not tempt me -- you know that I'm not above blackmail -- have you perhaps forgotten that you sent me a book that had your name (first and LAST) and return address on the package?

Ummm -- how many WL books will you send me to keep your last name a secret?????devil

Hmmm...now that I think about it, several people here could rat on me.  Deb, you know I'd love to post some WL books to you, but you seem to be always wishing for paperbacks when I have the hardcover version...or vice versa.  So, gee, that wouldn't work!

Don't know if you have determined what the mini challenge should be but how about 5 books from the TBR pile with a theme to be determined by the reader.  Just a thought if you still need ideas.

Dangit!  Now I want to know Vicky's last name, and I too am wondering if Valli was a Gilligan's Island fan.  I would've liked to have changed my name to Ginger, though.  I still would.  Ginger is such a sexy, exotic name.  I'm also now thinking of humpback whales and their, ummm, you know.

Shelley, I always loved sexy Ginger the best.  Loved the name, too, when I was a kid. (lol)

Valli, computer will be on the way to okay.  Hubby and I had to do some serious decision-making about the one we have that's been having some hiccups lately.  I should be ready for August 1st.  Have a good trip to Houston.
