The doctor said she was suffering a schizophrenic attack and she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. An experience behind the walls of the Victorian hospital only exacerbated Lorraine's insecurity. Still very ill Lorraine was taken away from the hospital by a 'friend'. She stayed with him for two days. Before she was put on a bus back to her home. Under her Mother's dedicated care Lorraine slowly began to recover and her bottled up emotions was brought to the fore as events from her past where brought out in the open. Ladybird Ladybird Fly Away Home After recovering from a schizophrenic attack at the age of fifteen Lorraine was reasonably well until she reached her late twenties. This second autobiography: Ladybird Ladybird fly away home follows Lorraine's adulthood and family life. It tells of Lorraine's terrifying time when mental illness returned with a vengeance, Married with three children, the illness returned without warning no one could convince her that the voices in her head and her thought delusions wasn't real. Her life became a living nightmare her paranoia was so great that she was convinced people could see into her mind and read her every thought. She had numerous breakdowns which led to hospital admissions. In between the breakdowns she was filled with an unbearable depression and lived in fear of becoming ill again. Her day to day life was one of anxiety and dread. Despite this Lorraine and her husband Pete tried their best to cope with running a home and bringing up their three daughters. Ladybird Ladybird fly away home is a vivid account of those years giving a true insight into how it feels to suffer with serious mental health problems. About the Author Lorraine is an inspiration to all who come across her. The journey Lorraine has taken in terms of her mental illness and diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder has been challenging in many respects, sadly largely due to people's ignorance and the stigma associated with a diagnosis of severe mental illness. However, despite this, Lorraine has show great courage and determination and she represents to all who are lucky enough to know her a remarkable example of how, despite her diagnosis, she has worked extremely hard to achieve her hopes and aspirations. Lorraine's priority is her family who have supported her throughout her illness and in her determination to be further educated in creative writing. Creative writing has given Lorraine opportunity to develop many new skills and to her immense credit she has reflected all she has learnt within her writing. Lorraine represents a remarkable example of a recovery journey for someone experiencing severe mental illness .
