"The Miracle of Freedom: Seven Tipping Points That Saved the World" by Chris Stewart begins by creating awareness that freedom does not appear to be a natural, human condition, and that over the course of human history only a very, very small percentage of people have had the opportunity to be free (less than 22% in the current world). Some may argue Stewart's definition of freedom and its current availability in the world. Regardless of agreement or not, the seven events he has chosen to be the predominant milestones on the path to global freedom are interesting historical reading. Several I was familiar with; others were unknown to me. While informative, Stewart's underling assumptions regarding Christianity tend to bias his interpretations. Fact filled but not certain I would consider "The Miracle of Freedom" a scholarly work as there is very little in the way of counter arguments or assumptions. [3/5]
