"Delicious", says Margaret Truman, and how right she is. Very unusual and very enjoyable mystery.
"Evelyn Smith's creation, Miss Melville, and her well-bred adventures in mayhem are dfelicious and addictive. Miss Melville's Revenge is her best" Margaret Truman
She ahs taken upon herself the noble mission of punishing the unpunishable- and she does it with her usual swiftness, discretion, impeccable manners and, of course, taste. She goes about tidying the NY streets of a truly despicable group, the criminal diplomats, those who smuggles, molest, enslave, rape, and murder under the cloak of diplomatic immunity...and possibly avengin the murder of her father..
I pretty much had the ending figured out very early in the book. So there was no surprise there. Disappointing. Plus, the author tried to be "very witty" throughout and that got tiresome. And frankly, due to some things "Miss Melville" did in this story, she lost much of her allure for me.
