This is the worst book I've ever read by MacLean, an author I usually enjoy. The set-up is depressingly gothic, the hero is both a jerk AND an idiot, and the heroine is so bitter towards him, that knowing that she's going to give in and get together with him again at some point just annoyed me.

This book was actually so good that I read it in a day. I bought the book for $.01 because I read so many bad reviews on it but it was actually a VERY good book. I cannot wait to read the others.

Although the hero of this book was heartlessly cruel to the heroine at times, I really did enjoy this book. I thought it was a much more realistic representation of a relationship between Peers during that time period than others I've read and the ending was very satisfying.
