Despite the fact that I have dozens and dozens of books in my home, I don't feel like reading any of them. What I feel in the mood for lately is historical westerns. I'm really hoping to get some suggestions. I like them set usually after the end of the civil war and on a ranch. But it doesn't necessarily have to be set on a ranch. I do also like the ones where indians capture the hero/heroine, although I avoid the books where the heroine is sexually assaulted and then later rescued by the hero. That kind of stuff turns me off.

Anyway, if anyone has some suggestions, that would be great. I'll say thanks in advance!

I'd recommend: Texas Destiny, Texas Glory, and Texas Splendor by Lorraine Heath. It's the stories of 3 brothers and is set in yeah, Texas, post Civil War and on a ranch--well at least ranching country :)

Joan Johnston's Texas Woman, Commanche Woman, & Frontier Woman, are set in the west, but I'm not sure if they're before or after the Civil War... and Texas Woman has a pretty nasty scene involving a kidnapping and rape. The other two were fine as far as I can remember.

Cindy Holby has her "Wind" series - a good bit of it is set after the Civil War - on a ranch in Montana.
